Kathryn is a qualified nurse, specialising in mental health. In Case Management, she works with adults and children with brain injuries and spinal injuries during the litigation process and post settlement, working effectively with several litigation and Court of Protection teams.
Throughout a career of working with people of all ages, with varying physical and mental health conditions, in inpatient settings, residential/nursing placements and in the community, Kathryn consistently demonstrates desirable skills as a Case Manager, including professionalism, adaptability, teamworking, communication and has excellent clinical decision-making skills. She has valuable experience working with NHS commissioning teams and Local Authorities, navigating statutory funding streams. Kathryn has working knowledge of arranging care packages and the recruitment of self-employed staff, and their management, including probation, training, and appraisals.
As a Case Manager and NHS Care Coordinator for patients with catastrophic injuries and severe, enduring mental health conditions, Kathryn is skilled in acting as the central organising role for rehabilitation, care, and treatment, taking pride in creating detailed care and support plans covering all domains within a holistic assessment. With the capability of managing critical and unpredictable situations that arise with complex cases, she has the skills to develop and review risk assessments, risk management plans and contingency plans.
Advocating for her clients and working collaboratively with them means Kathryn ensures their views and ideas are heard and equal, while developing effective joint-working relationships with all parties, including patients’ families, the Local Authority, statutory health services, legal teams, and 3rd sector organisations, to promote safe, cost-effective outcomes.
Always working towards improving her own knowledge and clinical practice so that she can deliver the best care to people, Kathryn seeks out new learning and teaching opportunities and has spent time as an ambassador for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Kathryn has the capability to produce and deliver detailed, robust specialist clinical reports as required, including those used in Mental Health Review Tribunals, safeguarding cases, and continuing healthcare (CHC) applications. She has been commended for producing thorough and detailed INA reports.
