Kirsty Pickering
Case Manager
Kirsty is a qualified Social Worker who has experience of working with a range of complex individuals with a range of different care needs including acquired physical disabilities, brain injuries, and other complex disabilities including learning disabilities. As a previous support worker working with adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour, she is able to understand the challenges around resources available but also have insight into what support is out there in the social care and health sectors.
Kirsty has experience of working as a multi-agency team, working with different professionals both in the adult care sector but also within the health and NHS sector, this includes experience of completing multi-agency work including DST’s and negotiating CHC tribunals.
During her career, Kirsty has engaged in managing newly qualified professionals and completed her training as a practice educator having both Year 1 and Year 2 students. Following this, she completed her Best Interest training and is also a qualified BIA.
As well as professional experience, an important aspect is life experience. Kirsty has experience of supporting her stepfather who has a traumatic brain injury. She advocated for his rights which included NHS support, benefit support, OT involvement to ensure that he had the best care moving forward.
Kirsty has experience of working with professionals alongside her daughter, who has SEN needs, working alongside the SENCO and educational psychologist to meet her current needs and develop a positive plan in moving forward. Although both not professional, life experience holds value.
